We have been saying for a while now that we should open the cafe up in the evening to showcase my brothers talents in the kitchen, and so before Christmas we set a date (20th January 2012) and went about planning and promoting an evening of Thai food prepared by my brother.
At the time we thought it would be easy. A few curries, maybe 10 customers (if we were lucky), and me and Dave running the evening on our own. Well, 3 weeks on and our promotion seems to have worked as we are fully booked (35 covers) and Dave and I are in full panic mode!
David has spent th last couple of weeks perfecting his curry pastes and our last table was booked by a customer who came into the cafe and was won over by the smell!
Today we have spent the day trawling various Chinese and Indian supermarkets to buy all of the ingredients needed and then trawling Ikea (which on a Sunday is not the most enjoyable place) to buy bowls for the curry and the Jasmine Rice (which Dave has just admitted he can’t cook very well!). And let me tell you about the bowls…. they are the perfect shape and perfect size and they were massively reduced which is marvellous! I am hoping that the subtle snowflake/christmas theme goes un-noticed by our customers because the food is just so delicious!
I am now off to stir my coconut sorbet (which our table of vegans is looking forwards to). I am then off to research new coconut sorbet recipes that don’t include gelatin!!!!
I will see you on the other side of our Thai Supper Evening – hopefully I will be smiling and will have lots of nice photos to show you!
